Bio-based packaging

Project presented

Lactips transforms milk casein into water-soluble, biodegradable and edible plastic film.

The start-up

Lactips produces water-soluble, bio-based and biodegradable thermoplastic granules by recycling surplus production from milk manufacturers. Converted into plastic packaging films, this biomaterial provides an alternative to petrochemical products (PVA) as well as new industrial applications made possible by its technical properties: it is hot-and-cold-water-soluble, biodegradable, edible and suitable for a range of innovative uses.

Its target customers are manufacturers in the plastics and packaging sector. The relevant markets are: single-dose detergent powder (top sales) as well as liquids, agri-food, phytosanitary products and cosmetics (soap).
